holiday cornbread dressing
(2 ratings)
This is my children's Mimi's recipe that she passed down to me. It has served us well for 30 years, each and every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you, Elnora. You are missed.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
A basic, but delicious, no-frills cornbread dressing just like every Southern mama makes. It has the perfect balance of fresh veggies and seasonings without being dry or mushy. Onions and celery add a pop of freshness and bake to tender. This is meant to serve a crowd so it will be perfect for the holidays.

How To Make holiday cornbread dressing
Test Kitchen Tips
Our dressing took longer to bake in the oven, about 55 minutes.
-
1Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
-
2Spray a large baking pan with Pam.
-
3In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled cornbread, bread crumbs, chopped celery, chopped onions, and seasoning. Mix together.
-
4Add melted butter, melted margarine, and beaten eggs. Mix well.
-
5Add chicken/turkey broth. The dressing should be pretty soupy to start so that it doesn’t get too dry while cooking. You may need to add more broth.
-
6Transfer to the prepared baking pan.
-
7Bake, covered, for 35 minutes and uncovered for 10 minutes until browned or until well set and cooked through.
