No fuss "baked" bean recipe that can easily be adjusted according to taste. Beans seem to cook more evenly in the Crock Pot than on the stovetop.

Ingredients For crockpot baked beans

  • 1 lb
    dried navy beans
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1/3 c
    dark brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 Tbsp
    dark corn syrup or maple syrup
  • 5 Tbsp
    molasses
  • 5/8 c
    ketchup
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    yellow mustard
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/8 tsp
    black pepper
  • 3/8 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt, optional
  • water

How To Make crockpot baked beans

    Soak beans overnight in cold water.

    Place beans in slow cooker and stir in the rest of the ingredients.

    Pour in just enough water to cover the beans.

    Cook on low for 8-9 hours or until beans are soft. Stir a couple times during the second half of the cooking. NOTE - You can cook on high for a part of the time to shorten the overall cooking time.

    ALTERNATE METHOD: Cook the beans on the stove top for about 1/2 hour and drain before adding to crockpot. Save drained water and then stir in enough water for a "soupy look."Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally.

    NOTE: Adjust ingredients to your taste: add more ketchup, molasses, bbq sauce, hot sauce, bacon, etc.
