crockpot baked beans
No fuss "baked" bean recipe that can easily be adjusted according to taste. Beans seem to cook more evenly in the Crock Pot than on the stovetop.

Ingredients For crockpot baked beans

1 lbdried navy beans

1 cchopped onion

1/3 cdark brown sugar, firmly packed

2 Tbspdark corn syrup or maple syrup

5 Tbspmolasses
-
5/8 cketchup
-
2 1/2 Tbspyellow mustard
-
2 1/2 tspWorcestershire sauce
-
3/8 tspblack pepper
-
3/8 tspchili powder
-
1/2 tspsalt, optional

How To Make crockpot baked beans

1Soak beans overnight in cold water.

2Place beans in slow cooker and stir in the rest of the ingredients.

3Pour in just enough water to cover the beans.

4Cook on low for 8-9 hours or until beans are soft. Stir a couple times during the second half of the cooking. NOTE - You can cook on high for a part of the time to shorten the overall cooking time.

5ALTERNATE METHOD: Cook the beans on the stove top for about 1/2 hour and drain before adding to crockpot. Save drained water and then stir in enough water for a "soupy look."Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally.

6NOTE: Adjust ingredients to your taste: add more ketchup, molasses, bbq sauce, hot sauce, bacon, etc.
