This was a newspaper recipe. The newspaper is old and sort of yello. It's been around for while. It was in one of three recipes boxes my sister brought with her in February.

Ingredients For hot fruited cabbage

  • 2
    apples, chopped
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 3
    tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2
    medium cabbage, shredded
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 c
    vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • black pepper

How To Make hot fruited cabbage

  • 1
    Cook apples and onion in 2 tablespoons butter for 10 minutes. Add cabbage and water. Cover and steam 10 minutes. When tender, add brown sugar and vinegar.

    Just before serving, stir in remaining 1 tablespoon butter, salt and season to taste with pepper. Makes 6 servings.
