Ingredients For apple chutney

3 cgranny smith apple, peeled and chopped (about 4 medium)

1 conion, chopped

1 cbrown sugar, firmly packed

1 cwater

3/4 ccider vinegar

1/2 cred pepper, chopped

1/2 cdried currants

1 Tbspfresh ginger root, chopped

1 1/2 tspgarlic, chopped

1 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspdried crushed red pepper

1/4 tspground nutmeg
-
1/4 tspground allspice
-
1 pinchcloves
How To Make apple chutney

1Combine all ingredients in heavy large saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid is slightly syrupy, stirring occasionally, about 1 hour.

2Season chutney to taste with salt and pepper. Cool to room temperature.

3(Can be prepared 1 week ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Bring to room temperature before serving).
