This was my Scottish grandmother's recipe. It was a favorite growing up that my Mom would serve with ham, turkey, or pork. My brothers & I loved it on a leftover ham or turkey sandwich. You can adjust the heat (cayenne pepper) to your taste.

Ingredients For apple chutney

6-8 lgapples, cored, peeled, sliced

1 1/2 ccider vinegar

2 mdonions, chopped

1 tspginger
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1 tspcayenne pepper (adjust for taste)

1 cbrown sugar (i prefer dark brown)
How To Make apple chutney

1In large saucepan over medium heat, place apples & vinegar. Cook apples down. Add remaining ingredients and sImmer for 30 minutes. Place in air tight containers , keep refrigerated. I suppose you could can these as well, I just never have done that. This keeps well for several months in the fridge.
