I served this delicious Ham glaze at our Family Reunion in July & made a double batch of the glaze. I served it for our Christmas Dinner this year. We loved it so much we ended up making a second recipe the next day to go with the extra left over ham slices. WE JUST LOVE THIS SIMPLE AND EASY GLAZE. It is so delicious. It is easy to make and the flavor is memorable and quite tasty. You can use other soft drinks but we really appreciate the earthiness of Dr. Pepper, so we tend to stick with that. Hope you give it a try and see if you don't agree. Enough glaze for a 10 pound ham.

Ingredients For dr. pepper ham glaze

  • 1 c
    dr pepper soda
  • 1 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 c
    orange juice
  • 1/2 c
di jon or whole grain mustard

How To Make dr. pepper ham glaze

  • 1
Add all of the glaze ingredients in a medium sauce pan. Whisk or stir until sugar dissolves into liquid. Bring to a boil over medium high heat and cook until mixture becomes thick and syrupy. About 15 to 20 minutes, maybe a bit longer. NOTE IF YOU COOK TOO LONG GLAZE WILL HARDEN, AND MAY NEED TO BE HEATED. I USUALLY MAKE AN EXTRA BATCH OF THIS GLAZE TO SERVE ON THE SIDE, IT IS THAT GOOD.
  • 2
Remove from heat and brush over the outer surface of ham. Then return ham to oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat if desired.
  • 3
Place ham on large platter, and garnish as desired. EXTRA GLAZE IS DELICIOUS SERVED ON THE SIDE along with ham.
