Got this recipe from any older lady at our church. She was a really good cook.

Ingredients For carmel icing

  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 stick
    butter (if you use margarine icing will be softer)
  • 1/4 c
    milk, 2% (i measure out the milk and allow it to set while measuring and cooking )
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar,sifted
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make carmel icing

  • 1
    melt butter then add brown sugar
  • 2
    Cook over medium heat,stirring
  • 3
    bring to boil and allow to boil 2 minutes
  • 4
    add milk and bring back to boil
  • 5
    Add powdered sugasr, mixing well and then add vanilla
  • 6
    take off heat and allow to cool about a minute
  • 7
    Icing cake quickly as icing will start to harden fast.
