Your not limited to just Chinese dishes. You can use it just like any other spice mix and use it to marinate meat. poultry and fish etc. It's also pretty darn good in chocolate cake batter as well.

Ingredients For chinese five spice mix

  • 5 tsp
    sichuan pepper (huajiao)
  • 5 tsp
    star anise
  • 6 tsp
    fennel seeds
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    cassia (rougui) or cinnamon

How To Make chinese five spice mix

    You can either buy spices in powder form or if you prefer you can freshly grind them together yourself at home.

    Mix together the spices and combine well. Store in an airtight container.
