gramp's chili sauce
A childhood staple for me growing up, my grandfathers 'Chili' sauce has a great sweet flavor that goes very well with meats, and wild game. I'm not sure why it was called that given there are no chilies involved, but it's great regardless! Enjoy!

Ingredients For gramp's chili sauce

30 mdtomatoes

6 lgpeaches

6onions

6apples
-
2green pepper
-
1sweet red pepper

4 csugar
-
2 Tbspsalt
-
3 Tbspwhole pickling spice in cheescloth

1 qtwhite vinegar
How To Make gramp's chili sauce

1Peel and core tomatoes. Let stand overnight and drain well

2Dice Tomatoes, onions, Apples, Peaches, Green and Red peppers and place in a large pot

3Add all other ingredients, bring to a boil and simmer for 2 hours.

4If the mixture seems thin, some tomato paste can be added as necessary. This shouldn't be required if you drained the tomatoes well!

5Place in sterilized pint jars and seal. Makes 6-9 pints
