There is this great Chinese restaurant that serves the best plum sauce and I could never find a packaged plum sauce that even came close. Once I made this one I found out why. It is made by scratch. This sauce is almost identical to the plum sauce at China Fair. Yum

Ingredients For fresh asian plum sauce

  • 3 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
    apple cider vinegar
  • 1 c
    finely chopped onion
  • 4 Tbsp
    finely chopped sweet chili pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    mustard seed
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 4 clove
    garlic minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh ginger minced
  • 10 c
    fresh pitted chopped plums

How To Make fresh asian plum sauce

  • 1
    Mix all ingredients together in large pan. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and simmer 2 hours.

    Strain through a fine mesh strainer pressing pulp to get our as much juice as possible.

    Ladle into jars and process in water bath for 20 minutes. If not canning store in fridge.

    Makes about 4 pint jars
