This salsa is designed to be slightly chunky with the draining of the tomatoes. The cilantro and lime flavors, combined with the pop of the jalapenos, is what sends the flavor over the top. Hope you enjoy.

Ingredients For authentic mexican salsa

  • 1 (28 oz.) can
    whole tomatoes, drained ( or 4 large fresh beefsteak tomatoes, med. dice)
  • 2 (10 oz.) can
    rotel
  • 1/2
    an avocado, medium dice
  • 1/2 md
    yellow onion, medium dice
  • 1/2 md
    green bell pepper, medium dice
  • 1 md
    jalapeno, finely chopped (core & seeds added in)
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1/2 c
    fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp
    cumin
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2
    sqeezed fresh lime
  • 1 lg
    bag of tortilla chips

How To Make authentic mexican salsa

  • 1
    Put the whole tomatoes in a food processor or blender. Pulse until smooth, or (4 large, fresh, Beefsteak tomatoes, med. dice) Pour into a large serving bowl.

    Chop the avocado, onion, bell pepper, jalapeno, cilantro, and mince the garlic. Add to the processed tomatoes and stir in.

    Squeeze the lime into the mixture, then add the rest of the ingredients. Stir well for a couple of minutes. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. (Best over night)

    Salt to taste if needed. Serve with tortilla chips.
