The tomatillo is a plant of the nightshade family, related to the cape gooseberry, bearing small, spherical and green or green-purple fruit of the same name. Tomatillos, referred to as green tomato (Spanish: tomate verde) in Mexico, are a staple in Mexican cuisine. I didnt know that, so I wanted to share..:)

Ingredients For verde sauce

  • 12
    tomatillos, fresh
  • 1 lg
    red onion
  • 1 tsp
    cumin
  • 1 md
    avocado
  • 1 md
    lime
  • 2 clove
    garlic
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil

How To Make verde sauce

  • 1
    Heat pan on med high , adding oil. Drop in all the ingredients except avocado. Cook until tomatillo is soften. Place into a blender or processor. Add avocado blend until smooth. salt and pepper to taste.
