I am a fan of fairly straight-forward salsa... nothing too fancy or exotic. This basic recipe packs all the flavor punch you could want. I recently tried adding the oregano and now it's my new "secret" weapon... Give it a try!

Ingredients For fresh tomato salsa

4 lbvine-ripened tomatoes

1/2 cchopped onion

1 cfresh cilantro

1serrano or jalapeno chiles

2 tspminced garlic
-
1 tspsugar

3 Tbsplime juice

kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper

oregano, dried, to taste
How To Make fresh tomato salsa

1Quarter and seed tomatoes.

2Dice the tomatoes and transfer to a bowl.

3Finely chop onion and cilantro.

4Seed and chop the chiles.

5Stir chiles, onion, cilantro and garlic into tomatoes with sugar and lime juice and season with salt, pepper and oregano.

6Note: For a less chunky texture, try using a food processor or blender... works great!
