8 mdtomatoes, washed

8 mdapples (such as spartan), cored but not peeled

4 mdwhite onions

3 cgranulated sugar

2 cwhite vinegar

2 tspground sea salt

2 Tbsppickling spice
How To Make sweet & savory homemade ketchup

1Put tomatoes, onions and apples thru a grinder or Videlia Chop® - as long as they are finely chopped. Transfer them in a saucepan and add sugar, vinegar and salt.

2Wrap the pickling spice in a cotton cheese cloth and add to the mixture. Cook, uncover, at medium heat for 1 ½ hour or until it thicken; stir often. If too chunky, use an immersion blender. Pour the mixture into sterilized jars and sealed. Makes about 18 -250 ml jars
