peggi's old fashioned homemade maple syrup

I make this syrup all the time now & have for the past 20 years. We like it better than storebought. Hope you do as well. I have it pictured here in my antique "Big Chief" syrup bottle.

Ingredients For peggi's old fashioned homemade maple syrup

4 cups white sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 cups water

1 1/2 teaspoons butter flavoring

2 teaspoons of imitation vanilla butter & nut flavoring made by mccormick

1 1/2 teaspoons maple flavoring
How To Make peggi's old fashioned homemade maple syrup

1Place all but maple flavoring in a medium saucepan, start to cook over medium heat but, turn temperature down just when it reaches a boil.

2Simmer just 7 minutes and remove from heat.

3Cool slightly and add maple flavoring.

4Once cool enough, place in an old syrup bottle, Mrs. Butterworths size works really well. Glass is better.
