nana's barbecue sauce

For some strange reason, the only time we had this sauce was to use as a gravy for leg of lamb. It was yummy on the mashed potatoes, too. To this day, this is the only way I make leg of lamb. I have also found it to be really good for a barbecued beef sandwich.

Ingredients For nana's barbecue sauce

  • 1 c
    ketchup
  • 1 c
    dry red wine
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 3/4 c
    sweet pickle relish
  • dash
    tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 4
    gingersnaps, crushed

How To Make nana's barbecue sauce

    Combine all ingredients and simmer until thickened.
