This simple version of harissa, the classic North African sauce is real quick to make. It can be served as a dip with wedges of Middle Eastern flat bread. As a condiment with couscous and other North African dishes. Or flavoring to spice up meat and vegetable stews.

Ingredients For harissa

3 Tbsppaprika

1/2-1 tspcayenne pepper

1/4 tspground cumin

juice of 1/2 lemon
How To Make harissa

1Put the paprika, cayenne pepper, ground cumin and 1 cup water in a large heavy pan.

2Bring the spice mixture to a boil, then immediately remove the pan from the heat.

3Stir in the lemon juice to taste and allow to cool completely before serving or using.
