This Moroccan style dipping sauce will enhance your enjoyment of roasted chicken with a bit of a kick.

Ingredients For harissa sauce

  • 2 c
    dried arbol chilies
  • 3 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    honey
  • 1 tsp
    caraway seeds, ground
  • 2 tsp
    cumin
  • 3 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1/2
    lemon, juice of
  • kosher salt, to taste

How To Make harissa sauce

  • 1
    Simmer the chilies until soft in water to cover - about 10 minutes. Drain the chilies.
  • 2
    Slice each chili down the center and wash in water to remove the seeds.
  • 3
    Mince chilies with a knife until they resemble a thick paste.
  • 4
    Mix all ingredients together, adding more oil, lemon juice or honey to get to a sauce-like consistency if necessary.
