4 lbground beef chuck

2 Tbspolive oil

4 mdonions, finely chopped

4 cantomato paste, 6 ounces each

4garlic cloves, minced

1 tspmixed pickling spice

1 cdry white wine
-
1 Tbspsalt

1freshly ground pepper
How To Make greek-style meat sauce

1Using a large frying pan, brown meat in 1 tablespoon olive oil until it loses its pink color.

2Transfer to crockery pot.

3Add remaining olive oil to pan.

4Saute onions until glazed.

5Transfer to crockery pot.

6Add tomato paste, garlic, pickling spice, (put in a tea ball or tie in a cheesecloth bag), wine, salt and pepper.

7Cover.

8Cook on low 8 hours.

9Stir once or twice.

10Cool slightly.

11Ladle into freezer containers, or serve hot.

12Makes about 3 quarts.

13NOTE: This meat sauce is great for various dishes: spaghetti, moussaka, and the greek mararoni dish, Pastitsio.

14It is also good spooned over tacos or ladled inside avocado half shells.
