Very tasty, this recipe compliments steaks incredibly well! It’s another amazing sauce to add to your folder.

Ingredients For classic mushroom sauce

  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 c
    button mushrooms, washed and sliced (about 8 oz)
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste (I always use mixed peppercorns)
  • 3 large clove
    garlic, pressed
  • 1 tsp
    dried thyme leaves
  • 2 1/2 c
    basic brown sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    sherry
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    black truffle oil (the real stuff)

How To Make classic mushroom sauce

  • 1
    Heat butter in a medium skillet over medium heat.

    When it starts sizzling, add mushrooms and season with freshly ground black pepper. Toss to coat and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

    Add pressed garlic and sauté for 1 minute.

    Add thyme and basic brown sauce. Stir well, bring to a boil before reducing the heat to medium-low; simmer gently for 15 minutes.

    Add sherry, Worcestershire sauce and truffle oil. Stir well and cook for another 5 minutes; taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
