Delicious. Easy. An excellent sauce that is quick and easy to make. Use a good quality root beer if you can get it. Wonderfull over chicken or ribs.

Ingredients For root beer barbecue sauce

  • 1 can
    root beer
  • 1 c
    ketchup
  • 1/4 c
    fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 c
    orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    (packed) dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    mild-flavored (light) molasses
  • 1 tsp
    liquid smoke*
  • 1/2 tsp
    grated lemon peel
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    onion powder

How To Make root beer barbecue sauce

  • 1
    Combine all ingredients in heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until reduced to 1 1/2 cups, about 20 minutes. Season sauce to taste with salt and pepper. Cool slightly. Transfer to bowl. Cover and refrigerate. (Can be made 2 weeks ahead; keep refrigerated.)
