oriential essentials: the ultimate teriyaki sauce
If you have not figured it out yet, I like to make as many things from scratch as possible; especially, sauces, and soup bases. There are several reasons: 1. They are better for you. 2. They do not contain any unwanted chemical preservatives. 3. You can adjust them to suit your own tastes. I love drizzling this sauce over a big bowl of ramen noodles. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

4 Tbsporganic tamari sauce

4 Tbspsake

4 Tbspmirin

2 Tbsprice wine vinegar

1 tsparrowroot powder
-
4 Tbspcoconut sugar, light variety
- OPTIONAL ITEMS

ginger root, finely grated

red pepper flakes, for heat

baked garlic, for depth

sesame seeds, or oil
How To Make oriential essentials: the ultimate teriyaki sauce

1PREP/PREPARE

2Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).

3Chef’s Note: This recipe will make two cups of teriyaki sauce. If that is a bit much, just cut the recipe in half.

4Add the tamari, sake, mirin, and rice wine vinegar to a saucepan.

5Whisk in the arrowroot powder.

6Add the sugar, and set the heat to medium-low.

7Chef’s Note: If you are using any of the optional items, add them in now.

8Continue to stir, until the mixture comes to a simmer.

9Remove from the heat, and allow to cool.

10Place into a non-reactive jar, and store in the fridge until ready to use.
