How To Make frances coward's apple butter

1WASH & QUARTER APPLES. ADD WATER AND COOK UNTIL SOFT. STRAIN THROUGH FOOD MILL.

2COMBINE APPLE PULP, SUGAR AND VINEGAR. COOK UNTIL THICK; ABOUT 45 MINUTES.

3ADD SPICES AND VANILLA, IF DESIRED. POUR INTO HOT JARS.

4PROCESS IN HOT WATER BATH FOR 10 MINUTES. MAKES ABOUT 3 PINTS.
