Ingredients For onion herb sauce

1 Tbspbutter

1/4 cfinely chopped yellow onion

1 clovegarlic, minced

1 Tbspall purpose flour

1/2 tspdried thyme leaves

1/8 tspsalt

1 dashblack pepper

2/3 clower-sodium beef broth
How To Make onion herb sauce

1In a small saucepan, melt the butter over moderate heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes or until onion is tender.

2Stir in flour,thyme,salt and pepper. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for 10 minutes or until flour is browned. Important not to burn just brown.

3Add the beef broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture starts to thicken.Cook and stir for 2 minutes more or until thickened. If you prefer a smoother sauce, strain through a sieve and discard the onion pulp. Serve sauce with meat and poultry. Makes 2/3 cup.
