Okay, you’ve got the ingredients for an excellent French dip sandwich; however, you lack the dipping sauce (au jus). I HATE it when that happens. This is a recipe for making some sauce that will compliment a nice French dip sandwich, or any other beef you choose to drizzle it on. It’s simple to make, and it doesn’t require cooking any beef. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For beef sandwich au jus dipping sauce

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 2 Tbsp
    grapeseed oil
  • 1/2 md
    yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 md
    carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    crisp white wine (sauvignon blanc, pinot grigio, pinot gris, pinot blanc)
  • 1 Tbsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    tamari
  • 2 c
    beef stock, not broth

    PREP/PREPARE

    Gather and prep your ingredients.

    Place the grapeseed oil in a sauté pan, or pot over medium-high heat.

    Add the onions, carrots, and mushrooms.
  • 5
    Stir until the veggies begin to brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.

    Add the garlic, and continue to cook (while stirring) for an additional 2 minutes.

    Add the wine, Worcestershire, and tamari.

    Scrap up any brown bits (fonds) with a wooden spoon, and allow them to dissolve into the liquid.

    Pour in the beef stock, and simmer for 20 minutes.

    Pour the sauce through a fine mesh strainer, and discard the solids.

    Keep the sauce warm until ready for use.
