    large red apples, cut into pieces
  • 3
    tart green apples, cut into pieces
  • 5
    red pears, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 c
    dates, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    apricots, chopped
  • 1/2 c
    figs, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    sultanas (golden raisin), chopped
  • 1/4 c
    cranberries
  • 1/2
    persian lime (squeeze in juice), optionally zest too
  • 1/2 c
    honey
  • 1/2 tsp
    allspice
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 pinch
    sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla
  • water to cover

How To Make "mediterranean fruit" spiced applesauce

    Place all ingredients in a large, heavy bottom sauce pan with a lid.

    Bring to a boil and stir, then reduce heat to low/medium and cover.

    Cook for an hour, stirring occasionally. When most of the water has cooked away, choose whether you want chunky or smooth applesauce.

    Chunky, mash with a potato masher. Smooth, put in a food processor.

    May be served hot or chilled. Store in mason jars.
