My Aunt Opal made this every year. It was the best on her Angel biscuits still warm from the oven.

Ingredients For apple butter

  • 12 c
    applesauce, unsweetened
  • 4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 c
    sweet apple cider

How To Make apple butter

  • 1
    Combine all ingredients in a large oven-safe pan.

    Cook in the oven at 325 degrees for 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally. Do not cover.

    Remove from oven. Allow to cool. Place in jars.
  • 4
    Can jars to preserve.
