My paternal Grandmother handed this dressing down to all family members, it was handed down to her from her mother. It was made up during very hard times to feed a lot of people with simple and few items. I make to this day during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays.

Ingredients For silvas family dressing

  • 1 c
    diced onion
  • 1 c
    celery
  • 1
    loaf of bread torn into small pieces
  • 1
    set turkey inards (gizzard, heart, etc) ground up
  • 2 can
    stewed tomatoes (empty into bowl and squeeze with hands)
  • 2 can
    black olives (pitted)
  • salt, pepper, poultry seasoning to taste
  • 1/4 c
    light olive oil

How To Make silvas family dressing

    In a Dutch oven add your olive oil, ground turkey innards, onions, and celery cooking until meat is browned and veggies are tender.Slowly add the torn bread one handful at a time, mixing well before the next handful and allow to toast. Now add the some seasonings and add stewed tomatoes,mix well. Add olives and more seasonings to taste, remove from flame, cover and let sit until the remainder of the meal is finished.
