I have been making this dressing for many years. Its roots came from a small restaurant in a small town in Massachusetts, over 25 years ago. I never got the original recipe, over my dead body, was the response I got; however, this is my version, based on taste. I have used it so much that it has earned the title “house dressing.” So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For salad essentials: andy’s house dressing

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1 c
    olive oil, extra virgin variety
  • 2 md
    tomatoes, blanched, peeled, deseeded
  • 1/4 c
    tamari sauce, or liquid aminos
  • 1/4 c
    lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/3 c
    tahini, sesame variety
  • 2 Tbsp
    sesame oil, toasted variety
  • 2 clove
    garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt, kosher variety, fine grind
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    ancho chili powder
  • 1 pinch
    cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 c
    water, filtered

    What will you need? You will need a blender, or a food processor fitted with an S-blade, to make this dressing.
  • 3
    What is it? Well, it is a dressing; however, it can also be used as a dipping sauce for veggies, and breaded chicken tenders. Yummy.
  • 4
    How to store it? Store using a non-reactive jar (glass) in the fridge. It will last about 2 weeks.

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

    Blanch, peel and deseed the tomatoes.
  • 7
    Add all of the ingredients, except the olive oil, to a blender, or food processor fitted with an S blade.

    Blend until completely smooth.

    Turn the blender to low, and drip in the olive oil. The mixture will thicken as you slowly add the oil. Do not add it too fast.
