This is the salad dressing of my childhood and still my favorite of all time. I grew up in a salad-eating family, but Mom didn’t waste time with salad bowls for 8, so this sweet dressing infused mounds of pasta and slices of meatloaf. All amounts are just suggestions, but I’ve given the baselines Mom used. Feel free to take notes, decide on options, and figure out what is perfect for you & your family. =^..^=

How To Make mom’s homemade sweet vinaigrette dressing

  • 1
In a Mason jar, stir together the oil, vinegar, and sugar, then taste. I start out with just under 1/4 cup of vinegar, then adjust. I usually need more sugar, so add a little at a time, until it’s just right for you.
  • 2
Next, add the minced garlic (or garlic salt or garlic powder), oregano, and grated onion. A little onion powder is also good.
  • 3
Allow the minced garlic to infuse the dressing, if you have time. Refrigerate leftovers in a Mason jar. If you used olive oil, set it out about 30 minutes before you need it again or remove the metal lid and ring and microwave 10-15 seconds.
