One of my favorite old recipes, probably got it out of a newspaper, but at any rate I wanted to post it here for safe keeping.

Ingredients For country mustard

1/3 cwhole mustard seeds

1/3 cboiling water

1/3 cwarm water
-
1/3 cpowdered mustard

1 ccider vinear
-
1/4 cpacked dark brown sugar

2 Tbspall-purpose flour
-
1 1/2 tspsalt
-
1 tsponion powder
-
1/2 tspgarlic powder
-
1/4 tspground cinnamon
-
1/4 tspground allspice
-
1/8 tspground cloves
How To Make country mustard

1In a small bowl, combine mustard seeds, and 1/3 cup boiling water.

2In another small bowl, combine powdered mustard with 1/3 cup warm water, set both bowls of mustards aside for 10 minutes for flavors to develop.

3In a small saucepan, combine vinegar, brown sugar, flour, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, cinnamon, allspice, cloves and reserved mustards. Bring this to a boil stirring constantly. Cook and stir this for about 2 minutes or until it thickens nicely.

4Pour into a small bowl, cover and refrigerate overnight.

5Next day use a wire whisk, beat until smooth. Spoon into a container with a tight fitting lid. Refrigerate. Makes aprox. 2 cups.
