Another recipe made from Thin Kitchen (Beachbody) cookbook for my husband's exercise and diet program he is on. I love, love, love french onion dip and have never made my own, so when I saw this recipe I just had to try it. For a low-fat healthy version of this dip it has WOW factor to it! Gotta love your onions! Along with the seasonings added in I hardly noticed the low-fat sour cream.

Ingredients For vegan french onion dip

  • 1 md
    onion, cut into 1/2-inch -thick slices
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    fresh ground black pepper
  • 12 oz
    container vegan sour cream (such as tofutti) --- non-vegan can use lf sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp
    low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme

How To Make vegan french onion dip

    Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Toss together oil, onion, vinegar, sea salt, and pepper on a nonstick baking sheet.

    Bake about 18 minutes or until onions are browned. Transfer mixture to a medium-sized bowl and cool.

    Coarsely chop remaining onion slices and return to bowl; stir in sour cream, soy sauce, and thyme. Season with remaining sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Transfer to serving bowl.

    Enjoy with baked whole-grain tortilla chips, baked potato chips, whole-grain crackers, and/or fresh veggies.
