Every time I make this tasty dip, it is met with rave reviews and tons of requests for the recipe. Goes great with crostini, Ritz, chips, French/Italian bread.... just about anything you would use a dip for. This dip can be prepared and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days before serving. The flavor gets better and more 'potent' the longer it is allowed to set up. Quick and easy to put together, letting the flavors blend is what takes the longest.

Ingredients For better than french onion dip

1 Tbspvegetable oil

1 1/4 cthinly sliced shallots; about 4 ounces

3/4 cmayonnaise

3/4 csour cream

4 ozblue cheese, room temperature
How To Make better than french onion dip

1Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Add shallots. Cover and cook until golden brown. It takes about 20 minutes; stir occasionally. Allow to cool.

2Whisk mayonnaise and sour cream in a medium bowl. Add blue cheese. You can use a rubber spatula to mix or an electric hand mixer. Mix ingredients well.

3Stir in cooled caramelized shallots.

4Once all ingredients are mixed, cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until all flavors blend. Serve at room temperature.
