I got tired of having the chocolate syrup disappearing every time I brought a bottle home from the store. So after some experimenting I came up with this recipe...enjoy!

Ingredients For homemade chocolate syrup

1 1/3 ccocoa powder

2 1/4 cgranulated sugar

1/4 tspsalt if desired

1 1/3 cboiling water

1 1/2 tspvanilla extract
How To Make homemade chocolate syrup

1In heavy sauce pan combine cocoa powder, sugar and salt. Gradually stir in boiling water and cook over medium heat until smooth and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

2Pour mixture into a 3 cup container with a tight fitting lid and store in refrigerator. This will keep for about 3 weeks.

3Makes about 2 2/3 cups chocolate syrup.
