1 teaspoon salt
½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup dark corn syrup
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into 1 inch pieces
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup whipping (heavy) cream
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 to 3 cups salted peanuts, coarsely chopped
