Ingredients For caramelized tuna salad

  • TUNA SALAD
  • 4 oz
    fresh bean sprouts
  • 1
    mini cucumber cut into chunks
  • 1/2 c
    cilantro chopped
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tsp
    sesame oil
  • 1
    tuna steak cut into chunks
  • 1 Tbsp
    peanut oil
  • 1 Tbsp
    roasted cashews crushed
  • DRESSING
  • 1 tsp
    peanut oil
  • 1 tsp
    grated ginger
  • pinch of red chili flakes
  • 4 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    fish sauce
  • 1 Tbsp
    tamarind paste
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar

How To Make caramelized tuna salad

    To make the dressing. In a small saucepan add the peanut oil. Add the ginger and red pepper flakes and cook a few seconds. Add the soy sauce, Fish sauce and tamarind paste. Cook 30 seconds. Add the brown sugar and cook until the sugar has dissolved and the dressing is syrupy. Remove from heat and set aside.

    Mix the bean sprouts, cilantro, cucumber, and basil leaves together. Place on plate.

    Cut the tuna into chunks. Heat the peanut and sesame oil in a cast iron pan. Once hot add the tuna chunks and stir fry until desired doneness. Top the salad with the tuna. Drizzle the dressing over the top and garnish with nuts
