You often hear that Russian recipes are super heavy. While we love our meat, potatoes and sour cream, there are plenty of fresh dishes made with simple ingredients. Like this red cabbage salad, were the vegetables are all shredded and finished with a light vinaigrette which slightly pickles them. It’s a salty/sour combo you don’t want to miss! The lovely red hue comes from the beets. How To Make krasnaya kapusta (red cabbage salad)

1Shred cabbage, carrots and beets; combine.

3Make your vinaigrette by combining the rest of the ingredients.

4Bring to a boil, then remove from stove.
