Ingredients For sweet and spicy lemon-basil broccoli salad

  • 1 Tbsp
    garlic rice wine vinegar
  • 1
    lemon, juiced reserved and zested
  • 2 tsp
    dijon mustard

    ground pepper
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil
  • 1 lb
    broccoli, rinsed, trimmed, and cut into bite sized pieces
  • 3 md
    tomatoes
  • 3 oz
    coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1/4 c
    white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    basil leaves, chiffonade'd
  • 1/2 c
    shredded cheese of choice

How To Make sweet and spicy lemon-basil broccoli salad

    In a skillet, combine 1 tbsp water, sugar, and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil and toss nuts in.

    Once coated, place nuts on a baking sheet and bake in a 400 degree oven until caramelized (a few minutes).

    Whisk together the vinegar, zest, lemon juice, mustard, oil, and pepper in a medium mixing mixing bowl.

    Toss broccoli, tomatoes, and cheese together. Fold in dressing and nuts. Chill for a day for best flavor. 1/2 day (3-6hrs) for milder flavor and crunchier veggies.
