This one has no mayo and will keep 3 weeks in the fridge. NO April's fool. It came from my Aunt Ann.

Ingredients For slaw

  • 1 lg
    head of cabbage
  • 1 lg
    onion
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • DRESSING
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 c
    cider vinegar
  • 3/4 c
    canola oil

How To Make slaw

  • 1
    Shread cabbage and onion and layer in a large bowl.

    Sprinkle sugar over all and set aside.
  • 3
    Heat vinegar, salt, celery seed, mustard to a boil.
  • 4
    Add the oil and boil GENTLY for 5 minutes.

    Pour over the cabbage mixture WITHOUT STIRRING while HOT. Cover and refridgerate several hours or overnight. Stir just before serving.

    Will keep in fridge for up to 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks. For real, NO April's fool.
