This is an old Southern slaw recipe I found folded up on a piece of paper in an old cookbook at my Moms. She had written "Good" on the side of the page.

Ingredients For slaw

1 mdcabbage, shredded, about 3 pounds

1 lgonion, choppped

1 mdgreen bell pepper, chopped (optional)

1 csugar
-
1 cwhite vinegar
-
3/4 cvegetable oil

1 tspsalt
-
1 tspcelery seeds
-
1 tspdry mustard
How To Make slaw

1Combine the cabbage, onions, and green peppers (if using) in a large bowl. Sprinkle with sugar and stir well.

2Cover and chill for 2 hours.

3Combine the vinegar and remaining ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil and stir until the salt dissolves.

4Pour the hot vinegar mixture over the cabbage mixture; toss well.

5Cover and chill at least 2 hours. Serve with a slotted spoon.
