This coleslaw is so good it never lasts for 9 days. My grandmother that lived in Haskell Oklahoma her entire life was a wonderful, old fashioned, country cook. We loved it when my Father would say that we were going to Oklahoma for vacation. There was always an abundance of food for whomsoever walked thru grannys door. It was a warm and friendly place to be. I miss her so much.

Ingredients For my granny helen's 9 day slaw

  • 3 lb
    cabbage shredded
  • 1 lg
    red onion diced small
  • 1 lg
    yellow pepper diced small
  • 3 lg
    carrots shredded
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    celery salt
  • 1 c
    white vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 c
    salad or canola oil

How To Make my granny helen's 9 day slaw

    Combine first 4 ingredients and pour sugar on all. Mix with hands until well covere
  • 2
    Place next 5 ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil
  • 3
    Pour over cabbage mixture and cool. Cover and store in refrigerator. You can pray that it lasts 9 days but good luck with that
