A friend from Germany served this at a neighborhood party. Everyone loved it but when asked for the recipe, she said her mother made this during world war II and this was made from memory. She just experimented until the flavor was as she remembered it. She came to my house to show me how to make the salad and as she measured the ingredients, I wrote amounts, ingredients and method of preparing and this has been a favorite dish at church, family gatherings, etc.
