Ingredients For freezer coleslaw

    medium to large head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1
    large carrot, grated
  • 1
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1
    small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • SYRUP: MIX THE NEXT FIVE INGREDIENTS IN A SAUCEPAN AND BOIL FOR ONE MINUTE
  • 2 c
    white sugar
  • 1 c
    vinegar, white is best
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    celery seed
  • 1 tsp
    mustard seed

How To Make freezer coleslaw

  • 1
    Mix the first five ingredients together in a very large bowl. Let stand at room temperature for one hour.

    Cool the syrup to room temperature. Pour the syrup over the cabbage mixture in bowl and mix well. Put into the size freezer containers you want for serving. FREEZE.

    To serve, thaw 45 minutes at room temperature. Best with a LITTLE frozen ice in it at serving time.

    This is very sweet but is delicious and good served fresh too. Two bags of store bought shredded cabbage with carrot is fine. Will keep in the freezer for many months.
