This is, hands down, the best coleslaw recipe. The best part is, it's ready in minutes, with ingredients you already have. Our family's favorite for many years. I've included two variations, one traditional and one made with our farm fresh apples. Delicious!

Ingredients For farm fresh coleslaw with two variations

  • VARIATION ONE: TRADITIONAL
  • VEGGIES
  • 1 lb. of hand-cut green cabbage (approximately half of a medium cabbage)
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 2 tb red onion, finely cut
  • COLESLAW DRESSING
  • 1/2 cup mayonaise
  • 2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tb canola oil
  • 3 tb white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp each, salt & pepper
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed, optional
  • VARIATION TWO: FRESH, CRISP APPLE SALAD
  • omit onion and carrot in original version and replace with one green apple and one red apple, diced

How To Make farm fresh coleslaw with two variations

    Add vegetables to a large bowl and gently mix.

    Combine dressing ingredients.

    Add dressing to cabbage mixture, a little at a time, until it reaches the amount of dressing you like.

    Cover and chill for 20-30 minutes. When ready to serve, gently toss and garnish with paprika.
