cabbage salad

My mother made this when ever the cabbages were in the store. Was so nice to have fresh food on the table. I have been know to add some Crushed Red Pepper about 1/4 teaspoon or more if you like it a little hotter.

Ingredients For cabbage salad

  • 3 lb
    cabbage grated or chopped fine
  • 1
    green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    choppd onion
  • 1 c
    vinegr
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    celery seed
  • 1 c
    oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    salt

How To Make cabbage salad

  • 1
    Mix together and let stand the first (4) ingredients while making dressing
  • 2
    Bring to boil the last (5) ingredients
  • 3
    Cool and pour over cabbage mixture. This is better if made the day before you want to use it and will keep refrigerated for several days.
