~ cheddar cabbage salad ~ cassies

I wanted a bit of a different cabbage salad, than all of my others. So I came up with one with the addition of cheese. It was perfect. I hope you try it sometime. My troops gobbled it right up. Enjoy!

Ingredients For ~ cheddar cabbage salad ~ cassies

  • 3 1/2 c
    chilled shredded cabbage
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced red or sweet onion
  • 1/3 c
    small cubed cheddar cheese
  • DRESSING
  • 1/4 c
    each - mayonnaise & sour cream
  • 1/4 c
    plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/8 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    each - pepper and paprika

How To Make ~ cheddar cabbage salad ~ cassies

    Mix the dressing ingredients until thoroughly blended, using a whisk. Taste and if you like a sweeter slaw, add a bit more sugar. This mix was perfect for us.

    Toss cabbage, onion and cheese together in a medium sized bowl. Took pic before adding onion..LOL

    Pour the dressing over the veggies and toss well to coat. serve immediately or chill, covered until ready to serve. Mine was eaten as soon a prepared, so not sure how it would be after chilled. Maybe put the cheese in, right before serving. Everyone loved my addition of the cheese.
