I was looking for a good slaw recipe. I am not a real fan of mayonnaise in slaw, so was looking for something different. This fit the bill. We enjoyed it and hope you do too. I don't remember where I found the recipe. Too long ago.

Ingredients For amish slaw

1medium head cabbage, cored and shredded

1medium onion, finely chopped

1red bell pepper, finely chopped

1green bell pepper, finely chopped

1 csugar
-
1 cvinegar
-
1 tspsalt
-
1 Tbspcelery seed

1 tspsugar

1 tspprepared mustard
-
3/4 cvegetable oil
How To Make amish slaw

1In a large bowl, toss together the cabbage, onion, bell peppers and 1 cup sugar.

2In a small saucepan, combine the vinegar, salt, celery seed, 1 teaspoon sugar, mustard and oil. Bring to a boil, and cook for 3 minutes. Cool completely, then pour over cabbage mixture, and toss to coat.

3Coat and refrigerate overnight for best flavor.
