I remember my Mamma making this every Thanksgiving or Christmas. It was a tradition that went on for many years. I found a handwritten version of this recipe folded and put in one of my old cookbooks.

Ingredients For old-fashioned holiday fruit salad

    8 oz packages cream cheese
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2
    (12 oz) containers frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 6
    bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 2 can
    (15.25) crushed pineapple, drained
  • 2 can
    (15.25) fruit coctail, drained
  • 2
    granny smith apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 1/3 c
    sweetened, flaked coconut
  • 2 jar
    (4 oz) marischino cherries, drained and halved
  • 1 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1 c
    golden raisins

How To Make old-fashioned holiday fruit salad

    Beat the cream cheese and sugar together in a large bowl.

    Using a hand mixer on high speed, beat in the whipped topping.

    Gently fold in the bananas, pineapple, fruit cocktail, apple, cherries, pecan pieces and raisins.

    Pour into a serving dish and chill at least 2 hours before serving.
