cranberry salad

This is a chilled salad we take to potlucks at church or bbq's and so forth. This recipe has very deep roots where I live and it has been made by everyon, for a long period of time. we have staunch german heritage here and the food goes way back. I am not from this area but I am in kin to it and I reap the benefits of the recipes that come from it. I don't know that this recipe comes from that but it is from them.

Ingredients For cranberry salad

  • 3 pkg
    3 oz ea. raspberry or cherry jello
  • 2 c
    hot water
  • 1 can
    cranberry sauce, whole berry
  • 1 can
    pineapple, crushed, 15-1/4 oz
  • 1 c
    pecans, chopped

How To Make cranberry salad

  • 1
    Mix jello with the water, stir in cranberry sauce. Add crushed Pineapple with Juice and nuts. Pour into 9 x 13 dish and refrigerate. Approx 1 hour

    This is helpful hints: I chill the pineapple and cranberry if I am in a hurry and my Pecans I keep frozen from getting rancid, but these help chill the hot water down and gel quicker
