INGREDIENTS
For Dough:
3 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup shortening
1 large egg, beaten
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup fine sugar
1/2 teaspoon anise seeds
For Filling:
1 large can pumpkin (not pie filling), about 4 cups
1 cup piloncillo or dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3 tablespoon butter
You will also need:
3/4 cup of sugar, plus 2 tablespoons of cinnamon, set aside
